As new Macs arrive, Apple announces major updates to Final Cut Pro
1 min readOn the heels of a major update to Logic Pro, Apple on Monday announced new features for Final Cut Pro, its professional non-linear video editing app. Updates are coming to both the Mac and iPad versions later in November and are free. Here’s a list of what’s coming.
Final Cut Pro for Mac updates
- Automatic timeline scrolling: Clips are in view under the playhead during playback.
- Dynamic timeline view adjustment: Use the Zoom tool or keyboard shortcuts during playback.
- At-a-glance timeline organization: Distinct colors are used to identify and highlight clips.
- Quick cleaning within a timeline, and the ability to combine a selected group of overlapping connected clips into a single connected storyline.
- Faster H.264 and HEVC exports.
- Object Tracker with a new machine learning model that improves results.
Final Cut Pro for iPad updates
- Voiceover capabilities: Record directly into the timeline.
- Pro camera mode stabilization: Can be turned on or off by the user.
- Combine a selected group of overlapping connected clips into a single connected storyline.
- New keyboard shortcuts for voiceover and grouping clips.
- New color-grading presets, titles, and generators.
- The ability to import iMovie for iOS projects. Final Cut for iPad projects can be imported into the new version of Final Cut for Mac.
